The smartest use of copy trading is as an apprenticeship: your account compounds while your understanding grows, until copying becomes a choice rather than a necessity.

Months one to three: watch and record

Copy with the free $100, journal every position you observe: the level it traded from, the size, the exit logic.

Your only jobs are not interfering and taking notes. Both are harder than they sound.

Months four to eight: study alongside

Learn support and resistance, candlesticks and risk-per-trade maths, then re-read your journal. Patterns in the desk's decisions will surface.

Open a demo account and attempt the same style yourself. Compare your demo decisions with the live feed weekly.

Months nine to twelve: graduate gradually

Trade a small live allocation alongside the copy, applying the identical sizing rules. Let the copied core keep compounding.

Scale your own share only as your results earn it. Some traders stay hybrid forever, and that is a perfectly good destination too.

  • Journal the desk's decisions, then imitate on demo.
  • Graduate gradually; let results set the pace.
  • Trading leveraged products carries a high level of risk and can result in the loss of all invested capital. This article is educational and is not investment advice.
