The old debate pits chart readers against news readers, but the framing is false. Technical and fundamental analysis answer different questions, and combining them often gives a clearer picture than either alone.

What each is good at

Fundamental analysis studies the forces behind value, such as interest rates, growth and policy. It is strongest at explaining direction over longer horizons.

Technical analysis studies price and behaviour on the chart. It is strongest at timing entries, exits and risk placement.

Using them together

A common approach is to form a directional bias from fundamentals and then use technicals to time trades in that direction.

This keeps you from fighting the broader backdrop while still giving you precise levels for risk.

Puntos clave

  • Fundamentals explain the why; technicals handle timing and risk.
  • A fundamental bias plus technical timing is a common blend.
  • Neither approach removes the need for risk management.
  • Trading leveraged products carries a high level of risk and can result in the loss of all invested capital. This article is educational and is not investment advice.
